Rhetorical analysis explains the various meanings of a political act or statement or message that relates to a political issue or problem or event. The subject of this analysis is of your own choosing; it could also be part of a speech or statement, something you saw on a political oriented news show or social media; it could be a video that went viral. The content could also come from discussions in the public sphere about the insurrection of 1/06/21. I will provide some examples in class – but the object of analysis could be a press-briefing statement, an extended discussion on a political talk show or website; an op-ed piece or (Marshall McLuhan please forgive me, a series of tweets, facebook or Instagram posts). If you have doubts about the subject matter you want to analyze, you could run it by me or Mr. Barbosa if you like. Use material from our introduction to rhetoric unit, sessions #4-#6 as your methodology for analysis.
