The core task for this semester is the creation of a short, animatedpiece of branded identity for an event or product endorsed by a character mascot that will be no greater than 20 seconds in duration. Examples of idents (branded identity) will be shown in class and include the London Olympic Games or World Cup or a computer game, whereby your environment and character will become the core of a whole scene promoting the event and space. Throughout this semester you will develop the scene and character from previsualisation to textured and rendered stages which actively engaging and participating in online class activities and forums. Your participation in these forms part of your assessment. Reflecting your learning so far this semester, your finished work will show skills development in the following core areas of 3d production: • Design translation for 3D character concepts and personality development as well as plan and implement 3D environments. Organic modelling utilising NURBS and Polygons for simple character and environment creation. • UV Mapping and texture creation for effective surface shading. • Lighting suitable for environments. Ability to create and manage cameras for flythrough timebased renders.
